About Erin Willard, Copy Editor

Thanks so much for visiting my website; I’m honored (and thrilled!), and I would love to learn more about your project. If you have not yet assembled a diverse and representative publishing team, however, please check out the Editors of Color website, where you can find their searchable Editors of Color Database and their Database of Diverse Databases to potentially expand the vision, voice, and inclusivity of your work.

As for me, I am a nerdy white woman whose business is correcting the pesky spelling, grammar, punctuation, word usage, sentence structure, consistency, and clarity slipups that can divert a reader’s attention from your wonderful writing. My goal is to make the reading experience as smooth as possible for your audience while protecting your unique voice.

My past projects have included copyediting manuscripts of award-winning novels and nonfiction and creative nonfiction books, and I edit a variety of genres, including mystery, historical fiction, adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, romance, and memoir, as well as children’s, middle grade, and young adult fiction. Working with independent authors and small publishers is my specialty, giving a final polish to the voices of new writers, seasoned professionals, and those in between. I am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA); ACES, the Society for Editing; and the Association of Independent Publishing Professionals (AIPP); and I am currently serving as co-president of the San Diego Professional Editors Network (SD/PEN).

Be sure to see the Services and Definitions and Rates tabs as well as my LinkedIn page for further information.
